Girl Friend of a Hard Core Gamer

Hey everyone,
I was rereading all my posts and I realized that I never really posted something about my feelings toward my boyfriend being a Super gamer. So here we go!

I have loved this man since I was 14, and way before I knew he was into all of this stuff. I love him for who he is as a person and as a man. Keno is truly the best thing that has ever happened to me, and the solution to all my problems because he is always the first one to wipe away all of my tears and make me smile. Aside from all of this mushy stuff, video games have drastically changed my life. Like I have said before, I have met so many friends through Street Fighter 4. Before he brought me into this "world", we used to do normal people stuff, like go out to dinner or go to the movies. Now the main thing that we do is go to Arcade Infinity and play games, or play games at home... basically 90% of the things we do revolve around video games. I guess it is safe to say that sometimes I miss the way things were before I was introduced into this scene, but I definitely do not regret it. He makes me happy whether or not we are at the arcade or in a tournament. Keno always makes sure that my needs are met first. When I was sick and he found out, he immediately left a tournament that he was in to come get me and made sure that I was feeling better. I have just never had someone like him in my life. He keeps me with him everywhere he goes, and always tells me he loves me even if we are in the middle of an argument.

Street Fighter 4 has brought me countless numbers of friends, and has strengthened my relationship with my boyfriend. I have a new found respect for people who place top in a lot of tournaments because I know it isn't easy and it takes a lot of time and practice to become so good at something. I will always be the person standing next to Keno cheering him on to become a better person in life, and in his passion. Yeah this sounds all peachy and happy, but there are definitely some downsides to being in a relationship with video games and my boyfriend. I do miss the normal things that we used to do, and not having arguments about whether or not he will be attending a tournament that day to hang out with me. It really is about endurance and being able to adapt and love what you are adapting to. I am so happy with where our relationship right is now and I would not change meeting these people in Street Fighter 4 for the world.

It literally amazes me how much I know about this game now... like really, a few months ago I would sit at the table and not understand half the things everyone was talking about: FADC ultras, etc. I still don't know that much, but hey, I AM LEARNING!

(Shout out to Keno) Baby, I know I always complain about how long tournaments last and they really take a toll on me sometimes, but I just want you to know that I love you so much, and I am so proud of how well you do in everything you set your mind to. I know that this is your passion and has been a dream of yours since you were young, and I respect that you never let go of what you truly love to do. You are my motivation to strive for more in life, and you are always going to be the fire under my ass you sexy piece of milk chocolate :)

Thanks for reading everyone!

Triple Threat turn out

Hey everybody!

So, not to completely bash on yesterday's tournament, but out of ALL of the events that I have attended, the Triple Threat tournament was by far the "WORST" one I have EVER been to. It was said that the doors opened at 10:00 am, and the event was to begin at 11:00 am. I understand that a lot of times, these things start later then planned, BUT Triple Threat was over three hours late! It did not begin until around 2:30 pm. On top of that, we were charged $10.00 for parking in a crappy parking lot. THEN Keno and I found out that they were randomly charging for parking, and a lot of people paid, while others were not asked to. Of course he and I went to get our refund. That was so shady! This venue was in HAX, a damn gym and it was just ghetto, we were sharing the place with all these basketball players and bystanders. WELL, they were actually the people sharing their space with us all. Not to mention at night it was FREEZING COLD! In the grand finals, Justin Wong and Marn were blowing on their hands to try and keep them as warm as possible.

But WAIT... it gets even worse. Active Gamers was super short on their prize money and did not mention it to ANYONE until the end of the night. This tournament could have AND SHOULD HAVE ended by like 8:30 pm but lasted until practically 12 am. They were extremely irresponsible with organizing the events, and also providing the money that they said would be the prizes for the hard working winners. It has been a really really REALLY long time since I have dreaded these tournaments, but last night ROYALLY pissed me off. This was a complete waste of my time and to be honest, I am still peeved that I wasted my whole day there. But as always, being with my friends made the night a lot better for me and that was the best part of the night. My advice for active gamers next time (IF THERE IS A NEXT TIME) is to do a way better job organizing their events, and do not be shady in the monetary aspects of these things. Money is money, if you are short even one dollar, then you are short! OH and nobody has the time to stand around for over three hours to wait for you to start these damn tournaments, a lot of people were there around 9 am waiting for the doors to open at 10 am and we were not even allowed to see the venue until after 12:30 pm.

AND I have a super special question for active gamers... "What the hell was the point of the VIP tickets when the people who had them had to wait just like everyone else to get in the building?" Well, they provided 'free sandwiches'... whatever.

CONGRADULATIONS ON WINNING THE "WORST TOURNAMENT EVER ATTENDED" AWARD!

Good job to Marn for winning the tournament last night, even with the crappy weather conditions!

Thanks for reading!

(Finally) Street Fighter 4 to ME

Hey everyone!
I just want to start off by thanking everyone for keeping up to date with my blog entries (there are not that many of you).

So this blog is something I should have maybe posted a little while ago, it is a basic summary of my weaknesses in sf4 and also my thoughts about bettering myself in this "hobby".

My weaknesses would definitely DEFINITELY have to start off with my execution. I have a lot of trouble canceling some moves with different characters, my execution is not that wonderful. I do not own a console or the game, therefore the only time I really play is when I go to Arcade Infinity. Execution is pretty hard to get down every time, and I get really frustrated when I can't do something. THIS GAME MAKES ME ANGRY!

My favorite 3 characters to play would have to be:

1. Balrog ---> Because I have been practicing with him a lot and know more about him than any other character.

2. Ryu ---> Currently learning his moves and he is really diverse and fun to play with.

3. Akuma ---> My Akuma is pretty next to ass, but he is really really fun to mess around with, and I learn a lot using him from time to time.

Does it bother me? Honestly, it doesn't bother me that I can't really practice this because in my spare time, I would rather be shopping, or earning money. And if I am playing any games it would only be Sims 3, or Call of Duty (this game is awesome)! I started to play because my boyfriend plays and is all professional at it, but other than that, I do not really have the interest to sit here and practice uppercuts and fireballs all day. People might think I am messed up for saying this, BUT, to me this is all "just" a video game. But readers, notice the two key words in that previous sentence: to ME. Besides the whole Pro aspect of this game, I like playing at the arcade because it's fun and gives me something entertaining to do.

Okay people, thanks for reading my update!

RESULTS OF (A.I. RANBAT 2.6)

Hey everyone,
I literally just got settled at home from the ranbat today. It was awesome and ran from around 2:30pm to 10:00pm. I am so proud to announce the:

SEASON CHAMP
RON KENO CAESAR!

& ALSO

FIRST PLACE WINNER OF RANBAT 2.6
!

The turnout was not at all disappointing. Keno was sadly knocked into losers a little earlier in the tournament by Umeshoryu (Sagat). IT was extremely stressful and he had to consistently beat other top players: Kai (El Fuerte), Tatsu (Vega), Bryant (Balrog), Dae (Chun-li), etc. to win this tournament.

NOT TO MENTION
* He beat Mr. Alex Valle (Ryu) for first place! It was amazing!

I am so proud of his success and how he can walk his passion and always strive for better, that goes for his character in video games, and life. I made a sign for Keno to win and I am going to keep telling myself that he won because of my sign, ROFL! As always, all of the players did extremely well and put up an epic battle. Keno is a perfect example that practice can one day lead to the fruits of labor (as some would put it). This tournament was so enjoyable, and I have absolutely no regrets. Everyone fought a hard battle, but at the end of the night only one champion stood.

Keno played his matches very cautious, yet very smart, and is now basking in the glow of his victory. A lot of big name players competed against each other, which made this ranbat the most unforgettable one I have ever personally attended.

TOP 8 (LAST MEN STANDING)
1. Keno (Balrog)
2. Alex Valle (Ryu)
3. Tatsujinken (Vega)
4. Gootecks (Balrog)
5. Combojack (Sagat)
5. Kai (El Fuerte)
7. Bryant (Balrog)
7. Mr. KOF (Akuma)

THANK YOU TO
Shoo and everyone else who put this together, it was a very special night and a night well spent.

*ALSO*
The majority of people also went to banana bay for dinner right after. If you were there, you would know there were tons of people, great food, wonderful music, AND Combojack's amazing "yeah" performance.

*** CONGRADULATIONS KENO ***

*** SEASON CHAMPION ***

*** A.I. RANBAT 2.6 FIRST PLACE WINNER ***

Goodnight everyone,
Teresa Lee
